SUPPORTING HUMANITY FOR 70 YEARS

Stretching back as far as 1954, our partnership with the British Red Cross is one of the longest charity partnerships in the world.

1954 - KENYA

The British Red Cross sent four nurses, each with a specially adapted Defender ambulance to operate as a mobile clinic, to provide medical and welfare services to women and children in remote forest villages in the Nyeri district in Kenya.

1968 - NIGERIA

We worked to support the International Red Cross and Red Crescent to help reach communities in need who were impacted by the civil war of the Biafran Conflict.
Nigeria

1977 - INDIA

A devastating cyclone hit Andhra Pradesh in November 1977, killing at least 10,000 people. Getting humanitarian supplies to survivors was vital. We dispatched our vehicles with the Red Cross to help them navigate the storm-ravaged terrain.

1978 - ETHIOPIA

The Wollo region of Ethiopioa was hit by drought and a plague of locusts.

In response to an appeal from the Ethiopian Red Cross, a fleet of Defenders was deployed to transport doctors and help set up clinics in the affected areas, as well deliver three tonnes of medicine donated

2008 - TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS

As soon as hurricane Hanna and Ike hit, Defender played an essential role supporting local Red Cross volunteers evacuating and transporting people to hospital, distributing sandbags, handing out clothing and tarpaulins, and assisting with the clean-up efforts.

2016 - TAJIKISTAN

Teaming up with the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan and the Finnish Red Cross, a project was launched to address the issue that only 49% of the rural population and 55% of schools had access to safe drinking water.

Together, thousands were educated in first aid, health, and hygiene, providing clean water to 15,000 people.

“What started in the deserts of Dubai and forest villages of Kenya in 1954 has become part of our DNA. Together, we provide vital assistance for humanity, often when the tarmac runs out and in the harshest of conditions. I hope we will still be helping those most in need for another seven decades.”
